The terms that govern your use of the Bay Area First Step website and our SMS text messaging program.

Welcome to Bay Area First Step. Bay Area First Step, Inc. ("Bay Area First Step," "we," "us," or "our") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing peer recovery support, treatment, and housing services in Coos Bay and North Bend, Oregon. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website at bayareafirststep.org and any communications you have with us, including our SMS text messaging program. By using our website or opting in to receive text messages from us, you agree to these Terms.

Use of Our Website

The content on this website is provided for general informational purposes about Bay Area First Step and the recovery support, treatment, and housing services we offer. Information on this site is not a substitute for professional medical, clinical, or emergency care. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911. You agree to use our website lawfully and not to interfere with its operation or attempt to access areas of our systems that are not intended for public use.

SMS Terms & Conditions

Bay Area First Step, Inc. ("Bay Area First Step") operates an SMS text messaging program to communicate with clients, program participants, and community members who have provided their phone number and consented to receive texts. The terms below apply to that program.

  • Program description: When you opt in, Bay Area First Step may send you text messages such as appointment reminders, program or intake updates, service and referral information, and responses to inquiries you have made with our office. Bay Area First Step does not send marketing or promotional text messages.
  • Message frequency varies depending on your interactions with us and the services you are enrolled in. Message frequency may recur.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Charges from your wireless carrier may apply based on your mobile plan. Bay Area First Step does not charge for the text messages themselves.
  • Opt-out: Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe and cancel receiving text messages from Bay Area First Step. After you send STOP, you may receive a one-time confirmation text letting you know you have been unsubscribed, and you will not receive any further messages unless you opt in again.
  • Help: Reply HELP for assistance at any time, or contact us directly at (541) 756-3111 or [email protected].
  • Supported carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Consumer/mobile phone numbers and opt-in data collected by Bay Area First Step are never shared or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. Privacy

Your use of our website and our SMS program is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what information we collect, how we use it, and our commitment to never selling or sharing your personal information, including mobile opt-in data, for marketing purposes.
